"Never take for granted, those you Love", I have read this maxim ever so often. The import of this maxim hit me like a ton of bricks on the morning, my wife, Melissa was being wheeled into Major Surgery procedures for removal of a 9 cms large Uterine Fibroid combined with Hysterectomy. We had moved countries recently and the lack of family support makes the challenge more acute and profound.
At this moment, I wanted to tell her so many things, beginning with our marital vows, being her man..the thoughts are endless. At this moment, I also realized the import of the other old maxim, "Life is Short" and as I waited outside the OR for what seemed an eternity (approx 5 hours), our life together (15 years) starting from the day we met, our courtship, marriage, 3 kids, moving countries to this moment flashed by me. As the memories flashed by, memories of when I could have been a better husband also flashed by, and God, I would love the opportunity of doing them right, being a worthy recipient of the Gift of Love.
As some one said, Life is what happens to us, while we are busy making other plans.
By the grace of God, the surgery was successful, that was the easy
part. Now comes the hard part of recovery, sustenance and renewal of
our journey together as friends, lovers, man & wife, parents of 3
beautiful children.
